what's next
I'm in the process of finishing my next book, an
all-true global thriller about the race to make - and
steal - the world's first atomic bomb. It takes place
during World War II, pitting American scientists
against the Germans in a race to make the deadliest
weapon in human history. At the same time, the
Soviet Union is desperately trying to steal bomb
plans from top-secret American labs. The story is

At the same time, I'm starting work on a book about
a little-known historical event, one that seems too
weird to be true - but it's true, alright. In 1876 a gang
of counterfeiters came up with a plan to steal
Abraham Lincoln's body (he'd been dead over ten
years). The plan was to break into Lincoln's tomb,
steal his remains, and hold the body hostage,
demanding in exchange for the corpse the release
from prison of one of their gang members, plus
$200,000 in cash! It's a wild true-crime thriller, and
what's really crazy is just how close the plan came to
working. I'll add more details as I dig deeper into the
research and writing.
packed with action and suspense, brilliant scientists and commando
raids, very cool spy scenes and the amazing inner workings of the
atomic bomb. I'm thinking it'll be published some time in 2012, but
please check back for more details.
And after that, who knows? I'm trying to line up some future books right now, and I'll
report back. The great thing about this job is that I'm always stumbling onto stories I'd
never heard, people I knew nothing about. So I'm constantly filling notebooks with bits
and pieces of what I hope will be book projects.

Meanwhile, it's always nice to work on projects that don't take a year and a half to finish.
